Shooting Wide-Angle: My Underwater Photography Setup
Wide-angle is the genre that makes you fall in love with underwater photography — big walls, schooling fish, whale sharks. After four years and three housing iterations, here is the setup I have settled on.
## Housing and dome
I use an 8-inch glass dome port with a 0.6× wide-angle wet lens screwed on the front. The glass dome corrects corner sharpness that acrylic domes lose on modern high-resolution sensors.
## Strobes
Two strobes, triggered optically, positioned at two o'clock and ten o'clock from the dome. Bring them close enough to avoid backscatter but far enough to side-light the subject.
